Saturday, Sept. 25 @ 10:00 Jackson Invitational (A)
Saturday, Sept. 25 @ 10:30 Monroe Jefferson Invitational (varsity B and JV)
Tuesday, Sept. 28 @ 5:00 Jamboree II -- Pioneer High School (entire team)
What IS a Jamboree meet? Our conference (the Southeastern Conference) uses the Jamboree meets to determine the overall league standings and league championship for cross country. There is a Jamboree meet early in the season (Tuesday), one mid-way through the season (late Sept.), and one at the end of the season (Oct. 21). Each of the Jamboree meets counts toward the overall conference standings, and each Jamboree meet counts more (carries more weight) as the season progresses. In the first Jamboree meet, all 12 conference teams compete against each other. In the second Jamboree, each team competes within its own division (we are in the Red Division along with Pioneer, Huron, Monroe, Skyline, and Bedford). For Jamboree II, the Red Division race is run at one location (Pioneer for the Red Division this year), and the White Division race is run at a separate location. And in the third Jamboree, all 12 teams once again compete in the same race, which is always held at Hudson Mills (the other two Jamborees rotate from school-to-school from one year to the next). Thus, the first Jamboree meet was the first step in determining the overall SEC standings and the eventual league champions. Also, there are always separate varsity and JV races in all Jamboree meets. Each school is allowed to run 10 athletes in the first two Jamborees and 7 in Jamboree III. There are no entry limitations in the JV races.
