Coach Hagood works at Chelsea Lumber. In 1977 he was a member of Coach Smith’s first Cross Country team in Saline. At that time there were 15 boys on the team and the girls team had not yet been established. He began working with Coach Smith in 2000 when his daughter was a freshman. At that point there were 91 girls on the team – yes! He said, “I enjoy working with the kids probably more than they like working with me. When I run in the winter, spring and Summer, I miss them and look forward to running with them in the fall.” According to him, the discipline that the athletes learn in Cross Country will benefit them the rest of their lives.
From the coaches and team members, we would like to thank you, coach, for the giving of your time over the years. We hope you run with us for a long time to come.
