Highlights

*We had two All State runners – 4^th time for Alex and 3^rd time for Kate

*Our 4^th and 5^th runners beat every other team’s #4 and #5

*Our 5^th runner beat every other team’s 4^th runner except Rockford’s

*We brought home 7 team medals, 2 individual medals, and the championship trophy

*All Time PR’s – Emily (2 seconds) and Katie (9 seconds)

*It’s always nice to win.

 

More State Meet…..

*Megan Goethals from Rochester – 1^st place time - 16:54 – the fastest time ever run by a high school female in Michigan.  She won by 76 seconds.  Last year her winning time was 17:10.

*There were 239 finishers in the race.

*How slow was this year’s race (warm weather and strong breeze)?  Last year there were 9 runners under 18:00; this year there was one.  Last year there were 39 runners under 19:00; this year there were 19.

Saline Hornet women conquered MIS and are the new STATE CHAMPIONS!! This day was a glorious journey from start to finish and deeply satisfying for the team and coaches; families and friends; alumni and SUPERFANS!  How about topping it off with a police escort down Michigan Ave. as the team vehicles returned to town after the victory. Saline is truly a great place to live and we all feel such gratitude for the community support. This has been a day of honor and achievement for Head Coach Michael Smith that will go down in history as a crowning glory to an illustrious coaching career.

Directions
*Take US 12 west from Saline.  Go through Clinton, cross M-52 west of Clinton, cross  M-50 west of the Irish Hills area. 

Just past the M-50 interchange, MIS will be on the right.

Team arrives at school  -  9:00
Send-Off  -  10:00
Departure  -  10:30
Girls’ Division I  -  2:00
Boys’ Division I  -  3:00
Return  -  approx. 6:00

 

General Information
*Drive time from Saline is approximately 45 minutes.
*There will be approximately 230 runners in the Division I girls’ race.
*Twenty-seven Div. I teams qualified to the State Meet – 3 from each of the 9 Regionals.
*There is a $7.00 charge for spectators.
*There will be 8 different races run at MIS on Saturday – girls’ and boys’ races in each of the four divisions. 

Division III and IV are in the morning, and Division I and II are in the afternoon.
*Approximately 1200 athletes will be competing at MIS.
*The top 30 runners in each race receive medals and are given All State recognition.
